I don't think it has anything to do with the background color and more to do
with the fact that some images could not be loaded -

The example Presentation listed in this bug seems to be working as of Sept. 12
(probably because the bad images have been fixed), so you will need to fake
some bad data in order to reproduce.

It seems the bug is not reproducible see link here

It maybe a loading process of the images that causes the issue. Granting there
are no or bad images then there should be an error display to show up or an X
mark replacement just like usually on IE browsers for bad images.

We can't reproduce this either, marking the bug as invalid.

This is a valid bug. When there is a problem loading an image from the feed
(i.e. bad URL), the Gadget needs to skip it and move on. Right now it will not
skip it, and the Gadget will never show.

I will log two other bugs for the issues we are seeing, but the main issue here
is that photos will show the first time the Presentation starts after the cache
has been cleared, but if you change the RSS feed to point to something else or
make any changes to any other Placeholder in the Presentation, the Photo feed
disappears completely. This also occurs in Preview.

This bug still appears to be present: http://screencast.com/t/nATNqRa42
I updated the Issue 423 Presentation in the Bug Testing Company to be the same
Presentation as the one in the video.

Discovered that this only occurs if the Visual Option is set to Slide Show. If
you set it to Cover Flow or Collage, it will show up correctly.
