Marketwall shifts up when you click between chart views while the chart is loading #831

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Run Marketwall on a Presentation
2. Switch to a different tab, i.e. Commodities, where items take longer to load.
3. Click on an item in the table, and as the related chart is loading, click
between the 5 Year, 1 Year and other chart views

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It's expected the Financial Graphs would continue to display waiting animation,
if the data is being retrieved, but it wouldn't affect the whole presentation.
Instead, the whole presentation would shift up on Ubuntu 12.10 display, and
would blink with every touch/click between chart views, on Windows 7 display.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Please provide any additional information below.

Chart won't try to reload if a duration button is pressed or an instrument is
selected from a table if it is already trying to load data for another
instrument.

Looks like this has been corrected for Windows, but we can't get the fix to
work on Linux this may be due to the Chromium version on Linux, so we are
marking this as verified since the significant majority of Displays running
this will be running Windows, and we will see if this is corrected in the
future with a new Chromium version for Linux.

We updated to the latest version of Chromium on Linux but the issue remains.
It's easier to replicate with instruments on the Bonds tab than on the
Commodities tab, for some reason.

Fixed the problem with Zoetis Inc. What will happen now is that, after trying
to load historical data numerous times unsuccessfully, only the empty Day chart
will appear, and the Duration buttons will not be able to be selected since all
of the subsequent charts are also empty. If the chart is supposed to
auto-rotate, it will show the Day chart for the length of time as specified by
the Rotate Every Gadget setting, and then move on to the next tab.

If the original issue with Linux is still happening after this fix has been
tested AND it is not just happening on initial load, it would probably be best
to log a separate issue since we've been overusing this one.
