Fix various crashes

Can you please provide an estimate of the amount of time needed to implement this and an estimate when you expect this to be ready?

About 4 - 6 hours to do some thorough testing and fix the bugs. Most obvious crash is when you rotate the phone, or suspend the application.

This seems to have been fixed by the recent set of commits.
