Android scripting is not an adequate replacement for jythonroid

I realise the project is dead so this doesn't help, but:

Android scripting is not a proper replacement for jythonroid.

Jythonroid would have allowed us to make python apps and put them on the 
marketplace, with android scripting people need the ASE installed, this is a 
barrier to writing python apps and putting them on the marketplace.

Agree whole heartedly.

Jythonroid would make developing applications for Android much more accessible 
to those who find Java a difficult language to grasp (like I do) and be able to 
bring their creations to the Android Market without the need to use Java, or 
other add-on pieces of software, often in a quicker fashion since Jythonroid 
appears to negate the need to learn any Java.

In my opinion, Android Scripting Environment (now known as Scripting Layer for 
Android) which isn't installed on most (if not all) Android devices by default, 
is not a viable option for writing applications in other languages to be 
deployed on Android because of the languages dependence on SL4A.

I'm currently in the process of learning Java and increasing my Python skills 
and am more than willing to lend a hand to revive the project.

Hello I have been trying to build this with out success so far. In eclipse the 
issue seems to be that it is including a core library which eclipse then says 
you must use the --core-library flag, but I will be damned if I can find out 
how. Using ant I generated a build.xml file by using "android update" etc but I 
don't know enough about the structure of this file to be able to include the 
--core-library build options. I made minor modifications to the code to be able 
to get that far and now unless I can figure out this build.xml file I am stuck 
haha

Any ideas this porject should continue imo any takers?

I agree;

Jython will make it easier to make android projects beacause sl4a python 
wrappers are incoplete
