Can this be used by clients instead of the standard mixmaster or this intended for server remops? Does it require a different pinger list since the encryption is different and older remops will still use the obsolete?

YAMN is the successor of Mixmaster, so to speak. The software can be configured as client or a as Remailer. The used pinger software is a slightly modified version of the original pinger software.
