1 year ago I like it! It'll be interesting trying to come up with something that works in dark mode as the color space is much more compressed there. We also need to keep in mind that (in both light and dark mode) this should be readable against a cell that the constructor has used a highlight on. But I think it's OK if readability suffers a little bit as this is a feature that the solver explicitly turned on.
A feature where you can switch between pen (current default) and pencil (a light-gray option) to write in gray letters for ones you're not sure of. That would be great for puzzles where you have a few candidates but you lose track of which ones you were confident of vs. just taking a gander (and seeing if it helps with other clues.)

Exactly the same as pen, just a visual difference. If you finish a whole crossword in pencil, it should still count the puzzle as finished, and tell you if you solved it or if there are remaining mistakes.
