ok, i have set everything up correctly, this time a re-made the gnomesword v.0.7.1, now i ran gnomesword from the console and this is what it said on startup:

GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager: Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed. Building GnomeSword interface gnomesword-0.7.1 Initiating Sword

Sword locale is en_US Loading SWORD Moudules Initiating GnomeSword

and got this when I open the settings in it :

Gtk-CRITICAL **: file gtkcombo.c: line 849 (gtk_combo_set_popdown_strings): assertion `strings != NULL' failed.

Gtk-CRITICAL **: file gtkcombo.c: line 849 (gtk_combo_set_popdown_strings): assertion `strings != NULL' failed.

there is alot more but dont feel i need to paste them. the real problem is gnomesword crashes when clicking on any of the hyperlinks that are the verse numbers, crashes when selecting any bible/fav/history from the shortcut bar, and crashes when i select anything from the bookmarks? is their a solution or am i doing something wrong? thanx for the help, and thanx for bringing bible study to the gnome desktop :)

have you run 'make install' it sounds like gnomesword cannot find all the needed files. also looks like you were running as root.
