Walking School Bus - inspired by the national program - this is a local initiative of the Mothers Out Front organization in partnership with the Bicycle Pedestrian Committee to have children walk to school in groups along planned routes. 28 January 2021 - BPC is invited to meeting with the school's Electric School Bus task force to talk about Walking School Bus experience. BPC sends schools Assistant Superintendent John Griffiths a copy of the walking routes maps. Yet, the disastrous meeting does not allow for any discussion of this or other issues that participants believed they were invited to discuss.
26 January 2021 - BPC sent emails to participates to solicit feedback. 5 or so respondents make it clear that the routes were never really used. It seems that participants require more active shepherding from the organizers.
14 September 2020 - BCP maps a set of walking routes for PVC and for CET to accommodate the 40+ participants. Participants are notified of their routes and told to meet up and self-organize from then on.
1 September 2020 - BPC and Mothers Out Front publish a BPC-created survey to the CCMoms email list soliciting interest in the Walking School Bus. The form receives 62 responses.
18 August 2020 - J.R., a representative of the Croton-on-Hudson Mothers Out Front organization presented to the committee the concept of Walking School Buses, looking for our help organizing.
