Handle commands natively via whispers for Streamer Account, Bot Account or Both

DragynsLair commented 2 years ago

This can be an advanced feature with a toggle that is off by default. My preferred use case is: I want users to be able to trigger commands via whispers to the Bot Account. If it has to be the Streamer Account for some reason, I'm ok with that as well.

@DragynsLair Processing commands through whispers is already available. If you mean that you also want to receive the response through whisper, then I'm afraid that's not gonna work. Twitch whispers are very unpredictable and more often than not they will not come through.

Interesting. I'll have to test it. When I asked I was told about the Whisper Event, which is not what I'm looking for... and told that command processing was not done through whispers the same way it was done in chat.

Thank you!

"Handle commands natively via whispers for Streamer Account, Bot Account or Both"

I was going to post a feature request for this, but then I found this request. I set up an Event, Trigger On: Whisper. (Description: "Twitch | When someone sends you a whisper."). But as the description says, it only works when I receive the whisper as the streamer. I would like to be able to create Events for when my connected bot receives a whisper.

My use case (for myself and a couple other streamers) is that we'd like certain people to have some of the powers of moderators, but without actually making them a mod. In streamers with lower viewer counts or active chatters, it can sometimes be intimidating for new viewers to join a stream and see a bunch of the green sword mod icons. Also you can't give both VIP and mod to the same user.

And the main downside of using the Whisper Event as-is for this, is that the streamer would keep getting whispers that they would need to ignore.
