Is there a way to still show it to the public but prevent them from editing it ?

I kind of "hacked" it using user privileges to prevent posting, using the privileges I'll prevent the posting tools to be shown, I'm wondering if by doing this, will it pose any security threat. I love the theme and I hope to use this theme to log down my "adventures" with programming. I thought it will be good to have a feature for them to enable the journal to be shown to the public too.
