Request: Games server collections. #499

I believe crowdsec would get a lot of traction If it had game server collections.

A lot of game admins hosts games that don't have any protections eg: home game hosting.

Others are going to pay for commercial hosting just to have some form of protection.

But game hosting companies, in general, are well known to provide hosting which has noisy neighbor and provide hosting that is under the minimum system requirements needed to run a game server correctly and ask to pay per player on top of asking the paying customer to pay eg: a bigger some to get a bit more ram to get it to be at the minimum or a bit more than the bare minimum requirement for the game server. On top, of this the customer has no real control over the server if a problem happens. They then play the game of support tickets (I'm not saying game hosting companies are all bad, they are alright for users that dont know mutch about how to run a game server.).

When in fact running game servers on a normal VPS or at home on an older PC would be perfectly fine for the most part for small groups of players, if there was an option available for protecting those kinds of game serves.

This is something I believe crowdsec could help with by providing game server collections.

There are to my knowledge no open-source game server protection out there (except commercial game hosting) and this is something crowdsec could change.

I host many games and having game server collections would be extremely useful. Some of the game servers that I get attacked the most are Rust, Ark, Minecraft bedrock edition and Java edition, Conan Exile.

The problem we get is volumetric, mostly UDP, with a bit of TCP and application attacks.

Hello !

It can be an interesting topic of course. Would you be able to share some logs and some use-cases of attacks you're seeing ?

Don't hesitate to drop by on discord to discuss about it
