Steam runtime communication error #87

When i click Launch on pdx-unlimiter the eu4 Launcher shows up an error.

eu4 version: Linux native 1.34 pdx version: 2.10.2 OS: fedora 36

Is steam running? Also, could you post the log file contents, which you can find at Help -> Show Log

Is there a directory called EmptySteamDepot in your EU4 installation directory?

because I use that directory to recognize the steam distribution of EU4

yes, its there - its empty

I can't reproduce this issue on my end. So it seems like to find the cause, we need to do some debugging on your end. It must have something to do with the steam library directory detection, because it doesn't recognize your installation as a steam one

and you can post the file libraryfolders.vdf located in your steamapps directory

I think we don't need a debug build for now, the library folders file should be enough to diagnose the issue.

After a delete of the settings folder ( .local/share/Pdx-Unlimiter/settings ) the error with steam launcher was gone.

That is still a different installation directory. the old one is /home/sven/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Europa Universalis IV, while the new one is /home/sven/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Europa Universalis IV

ah thats intresting, because both path point to the same end directory - but just the 2nd one works.

Can you try out this development build: https://github.com/crschnick/pdx_unlimiter/actions/runs/3078203525 ideally try setting your old installation directory and check if it recognizes it as a steam distribution now
