The 'clear' command on my system resulted in the error "terminals database is inaccessible". If this seems to be a problem on multiple machines, and the clear command has no functionality other than affecting the terminal display, it may make sense to delete instances of the command.
This is not sufficiently tested although it should have no effect on the actual shell script functionality.
