Using a proper application to connect to leapchat server #293

Hello

First thanks for the project it works really great even in the browser only, but I'm curious if maybe someone tried to do something like a real application that would fit better in the device. For example, Android, IOS, desktop...

There is no urgent need because it also just works in the browser, but I still think it could be better related to the notification management, battery, sending files (I have seen somewhere that it was discussed for a future version I think?).

Have a very good day

Hi @kidburglar! Thanks for reaching out.

We do indeed plan to have native, installable apps in the future that work on Android, iOS, Windows, Linux, and macOS; we actually talked about this just the other day.

Are native apps and sending files the two features you would most like to see added to LeapChat?

Thanks!

Hello @elimisteve

That's nice to hear ^^

In my context, that's the only things that are missing. For a little story, I wanted to help someone to pass to Signal but because they need a valid number that can receive the SMS it could not happen. I remember about Leapchat, and it's still better Leapchat than messenger.

The biggest advantage it's that it's straightforward to use and no need of dependence like a phone number (or complex manipulation). The file sending feature would complete the experience, even if there are alternative like using send-instances (the instance of Firefox Send).

The application in my case is that my phone is kind of old. I notice native apps are "better" than the browser only maybe because the subset of functions is smaller, I don't really know.

I'm a bit out of the subject of the issue, but perhaps a "logging tab" could be very nice too. So that we know how much person connect to the Leapchat link. Or potentially better, a way to remove the message before the 90 days. If the remove feature, it's possible to do something like that.

It's maybe a bit overkill, or a little too much specific.

Have a good weekend
