do you have any other fan controlling software installed? https://github.com/crystalidea/macs-fan-control/issues/118
No, no other apps. I've seen the issue #118, but I don't really have any other "strange programs" installed... It's a new machine, I only have a couple of apps, and none should have anything to do with fan control as far as I see. Also, I've tried running fan control right after smc restart, so no other apps are running.
I've also tried setting the force control flag manually with smc, but still something is reverting it after a few seconds.
➜ Downloads ./smc -r -k F0Md
F0Md [ui8 ] 0 (bytes 00)
➜ Downloads sudo ./smc -w 01 -k F0Md
➜ Downloads ./smc -r -k F0Md
F0Md [ui8 ] 1 (bytes 01)
➜ Downloads ./smc -r -k F0Md
F0Md [ui8 ] 1 (bytes 01)
➜ Downloads ./smc -r -k F0Md
F0Md [ui8 ] 1 (bytes 01)
➜ Downloads ./smc -r -k F0Md
F0Md [ui8 ] 1 (bytes 01)
➜ Downloads ./smc -r -k F0Md
F0Md [ui8 ] 0 (bytes 00)
Hey, solved the problem... Looks like the iStats app was causing the issue. I didn't even have it installed, just tested it a couple of days ago and removed it. But it left some of its crap in the Libraries folder... After I removed that and reseted SMC again, fan control works.
I'm having a problem with fan control on a new machine, with a clean Mojave install. As soon as I set a constant value, the fan would jump to the rpm value for a few seconds and then return to the normal "auto" rpm.
It seems like it is only able to keep the fans in force mode a couple of seconds after a setting is changed, then it reverts to auto. Here is the technical info:
And the smc output:
I've also managed to get a smc output during the few seconds it actually works, and in that case the the F0Md value was 1. But it reverted back to 0 soon after...
The application logs don't seem to detect that the status revert happened:
I've tried reseting my SMC and re-installing the app, but no luck. Any help would be appreciated.
