not controlling fan after update

i've updated to the latest version on my macbookair 5,2 running macos mojave, and now the app doesn't control the fans anymore, only shows monitoring mode.

here's the error message

Macs Fan Control could not connect to the helper app to enable fan control as well as adjust the speeds. Make sure to enter the administrator password when asked.

You can still use the app in monitoring-only mode.

The operation couldn’t be completed. (CFErrorDomainLaunchd error 2.)

Please uninstall the app completely and reinstall again: https://crystalidea.com/uninstall

that alone didn't fix it, but after i rebooted the computer, it's working properly. thanks.
