You don’t want to this;
all the automated builds/test infrastructure come off the GitHub account, and there’s a lot of it. The 136 auto builder script comes to mind, and the entire build setup around for the offline compiler depends on TravisCI currently.
There’s a real benefit for keeping Seashell on GitHub, namely for the visible issue tracking and contributions/fixes from students. In particular, our entire front end rewrite was made possible by volunteer student help, and in the past there have been useful reports by students on GitHub.
It’s also useful for our student contributors, many of them co-op students, as GitHub profiles are used during the hiring process these days.
Mind you, there are ethical issues for using volunteer student help for closed source software, and Policy 33 complaints may occur.
Moreover, one needs to double check what licences are used for our dependencies, and what obligations they establish on us.
This last point is not a point for keeping Seashell on GitHub; it is merely pointing out that git.uwaterloo.ca, at least, currently does not seem amenable to hosting open source software. Please let me know if this is not the case. On Thu, Oct 26, 2017 at 11:49 AM yc2lee notifications@github.com wrote:

Public repos on UW git server are visible to everyone and you don't need to log in to anything. This is a low-priority item, there are many other more pressing issues to resolve, and I may or may not do this.
Sounds good. Thanks for the clarification! On Thu, Oct 26, 2017 at 1:51 PM yc2lee notifications@github.com wrote:
