Dear all,

I hope this message finds you well. As you may know, the spring semester at ELTE has begun, and the journal club may continue. Starting from this week, we can have hybrid meetings at the usual location and online via the Google Meet link, on Thursdays from 16:00. We would like to invite volunteers who are interested in presenting interesting papers to join us. If you would like to present something this week (or the next one, if that is more suitable), please let us know by commenting on this issue no later than Wednesday. There are several new suggestions under the Discussion threads, so feel free to choose something from there.

Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Best regards, Bea

Yes, please be active and volunteer with reviews! So many interesting things happened in the last few months it would be good to talk them through.

Some practical details: The usual time and place: Thursdays 16h, KRFT meeting room (Pázmány P. stny. 1A, 5.128) Those who want to get off the list, please send email to me or Bea. On the other side you can also advertise the seminar especially for those who want to be active presenters, too :-)

Still there is opportunity to volunteer for tomorrow's seminar! I suggest to have this first meeting even if there are no volunteers (I will bug some of you directly ... :-) if nothing else everyone can tell her/his experience with chatGPT.

I will be (attempting to) present the forward-forward algorithm https://www.cs.toronto.edu/~hinton/FFA13.pdf :)

@qbeer you will also present about your experience with diffusion models, right? We would have at least two presentations tomorrow then! Looking forward to them, see you tomorrow at ELTE 1/A, room 5.128 from 16:00.

Yes, I'll be presenting a paper that we have already discussed, but I'll provide some implementation details as well, as to how to actually achieve it.

Generative Modeling by Estimating Gradients of the Data Distribution

Very interesting extra resources:

Diffusion models are the new way of generative modeling, replacing GANs and spreading really fast (runway.ml, etc.)
