Provide a start page that highlights interesting content from your feeds. Design goals of this feature are:
Make the application launch experience feel more like reading a newspaper and less like working through an email inbox. Using syndic should not feel like a chore or a work task.
Highlight content from infrequently-updated sources. We don't want weekly/monthly longform content to be drowned out by the firehose of daily news stories.
Create a structure for casual browsing. We don't necessarily want to encourage user to read every single item that comes in. We should continue to support a workflow for people who want to do that, but we shouldn't assume that to be the default.
It would be nice if we could do some NLP stuff to try and group related items from different sources.
I think that a good starting point for this is:
A model and/or special feed that pulls the most recent unread article from each source
A cards list view that shows a headline, excerpt and (if there is one) a poster for each article
Sort by cardinal order within source feed (something like RANK() OVER (PARTITION BY Feed ORDER BY Date DESC)
