As a metrics provider, I want to be able to specify a storage duration for raw data, in order to address contractual or legal concerns about metrics

Demonstrate an interface where a key for any kind of metric can be specified a raw storage duration, either selectable from a menu of durations, or specified durations. Demonstrate that metrics stored last up to the specified duration.

As per group discussion, a better way may be to have the application provide a lifetime for the data. Other entities may also request to increase the lifetime if they have the proper authorization.

I would punt on this for the prototype, it requires significant other machinery like the service manifest..

Tasks:

• Define a menu of lifetime options for metrics that can be configured in the service manifest
• Define an interface on the metrics service to receive the configuration for metrics data coming from a particular metrics consumer
• Tag metrics data coming from services with the lifetime option such that it purged later
• Create a background job that routinely aggregates (?) data and purges the raw data based on the configuration for those metrics .. probably a lot more..
