I’m using my FT-817 mostly for portable operation and I run Gpredict on a headless Raspberry Zero controlled via VNC on a tablet.
Right now I’m using the option FT817/FT857/FT897 (auto) but switching VFO every 10 seconds is not the best option for operation.
Using the manual option in portable operation is also unhandy. Controlling Gpredict e.g. with a tablet you have to minimize the interaction with Gpredict: having a virtual keyboard to engage TX on the radio doesn’t really work.
Best way would be to have Gpredict update the TX frequency when PPT is released: in this way, before transmitting you could briefly press and release PTT to have the TX frequency updated and then press it again to talk.
This would be a very handy solution if Gpredict has the ability to recognize when PTT is released.
Thanks for the feedback. I will think about this and consider it, though I can't promise anything due to having very little time and too many issues already.
