thx for this guide, I might buy this masterpiece, before that, did u solve the sleep issue? thx in advance

I never bothered with it and will not be continuing to update this repo.

I sold the machine and replaced it with a Dell PowerEdge T30 (WIP EFI repo here).

thx. a lot for the nice guide, I just bought this pc yesterday.

for the open core, shall I just copy and paste the OC folder since this is a fresh install not staging?

cstrouse commented 4 years ago

It's not quite that simple as OC is a lot more picky about configuration. You will also need to generate the SMBIOS data (serial number, UUID, etc) and add that to the config.plist.

If you have Windows on the computer you can run a program to capture a report from your hardware and then I can use that to help you get things configured correctly. Once we get your machine running I would also be willing to do another batch of updates to the repo with your help testing that everything works properly.

If you'd like to do that send me an email and I'll send you instructions on how to take the next steps.

The hardest part of working with the T3610 is USB3 support since they used a 3rd party controller which has not had driver development in a long time and doesn't work with Mojave or Catalina. If you can get by with USB2-only things are a lot easier. If you need USB3 you really have no choice but to buy a well-supported USB3 PCIe controller.

The downside to add-on USB3 controllers is that most of the affordable ones can't be used to boot the system since they require firmware and driver support to be loaded by the OS.

@aelsharawi My email is on my Github profile.

I just ran across some old notes saying that enabling the loading of legacy ROMs is required for sleep to work. Have you tried that?

cstrouse commented 3 years ago

Checkout the new EFI. It solves the USB issues, sleeps fine, and works with Big Sur.
