Thoughts on a title?
Maybe just "gait data collected during walking under the influence of random perturbations on an actuated treadmill"
How about: "An elaborate data set on human gait and the effect of mechanical perturbations"
And make sure you mention in the abstract something like "The data set contains a total of xx seconds of full body gait data from xx subjects, including full body kinematics and ground reaction forces."
Elaborate is a good word. I don't feel too keen on saying that the data set is on something. Data is something. What do you think of either of these rearrangements:
An elaborate human gait data set for the purposes of studying the effect of mechanical perturbations.
An elaborate data set for the study of the effect of mechanical perturbations on human gait.
I like "human gait and the effect of mechanical perturbations" because the data is also useful for those who just need normal unperturbed gait, which is part of the data. We may have the most impact there, because what exists now is quite anecdotal (few subjects, few gait cycles) and never includes the whole body. If it is only about perturbations, there aren't many people who can use that sort of data right now.
How would you feel about "...data set of human gait..."?
Glad you like "an elaborate data set". Ahmet deserves credit for that idea. His paper with similar title was accepted without revision at ASME J Biomech Eng.
Yes, you are right. We have data with and without perturbations. "of" is better than "on" for me.
Well, "of" doesn't work for the second part "of...the effect of mechanical perturbations".
Ok, I'm fine with your first suggestion now.
I'll add this in: "An elaborate data set on human gait and the effect of mechanical perturbations".
Maybe:
"Full body dynamic gait data collected during walking under the influence of random perturbations on an actuated treadmill"
