Take a look at Section.STATUSES. Filter on that for what you need.

now does not show "Closed" sections. (Sections remain open until all students graded/resolved)

Testing:

in /schooladmin, find an open section. note prof1. find a closed section, note prof2
log in as prof1, verify section shown
log in as prof2, verify section not shown.
