For the test sample, with the std settings the simtel would take ~1h For the test we made with asum_threshold = 250, n_pe = 20, n_photons = 120, the jobs took about 70min. So I think the increase in execution time is not a problem.

Are you done with the MAGIC updates, @jsitarek ? From the LST side I do not think it is urgent to update the SPE response curve (#40 - discussion by mail is ongoing), so we can proceed.

@Voutsi - I would say that you can proceed with rerunning the simtels
The value asum_threshold 270 mV is too high for much of the existing LST1 data. We reduce it to 230 mV, together with a reduction the min_photons and min_photoelectrons values settings to be on the safe side (but especially the change in min_photons will increase sim_telarray execution time - @Voutsi, did you check by how much?).
