Is there a way to get the current preset number?

I want to use the trigger buttons one pot to switch presets.

This is not implemented. Trigger buttons + pots are sampled at 44.1kHz/32. They are for audio control purposes only. UI control only works through web access. You could try to change the implementation in a custom firmware serving your needs. There will likely be a TBD mk2 which provides a small hardware UI to change configurations without the need to use the web UI.
