I have a developer who has asked for the following:

When displayed for the first time, the animated GIF automatically plays once. After this first loop, the Play control is displayed. If the user wants to replay the animation, she can click the Play button.

Is this even possible?

Yeah this is possible, but at this point it's totally out of scope for this library
