Hello.
I've never heard of "affinity publisher", and by "illustrator" I assume you mean Adobe Illustrator.
This font requires a spec-correct OpenType shaper to work. An example of such a shaper is HarfBuzz.
Please try the font in Inkscape, GIMP; those are the two main software I test. If it works there, my font has no bugs, the proprietary software has the bugs.
I am aware of bugs in Paint and WordPad.
thanks for the response ive tryed it on inkscape and it works perfectly however the problem still existe on adobe products like illustrator / indesigner / photoshop and its worst on power point / word and Affinity Publisher as you will see in the screen shotes , i just wanted report this bug because you ve created a beautiful font and its a shame that we cant use it on popular software thank you
Sorry, there's nothing I can do about it. The font's fundamental functions do not work without OpenType shaping. It is like asking me to make a bicycle with one wheel. The reason that the font beautifully connects, as you say (thanks for the compliment), is because it uses OpenType shaping. To fix your problem, I would need to make my font worse for everyone else. I'm not willing to do that to fix proprietary software.
By the way…Word 2013 is old, and has long since been deprecated.
I think you are trying on a likewise old version of Illustrator from before Adobe Creative Cloud. I tried on a recent-ish Illustrator free trial around six months ago and it worked.
You'll have to update your proprietary programs and hope that they have a working OpenType shaper, or else stop using them, or give up the dream of using this font. There really is no fourth option. (Well, okay. There always is. Technically you could undergo a massive reverse engineering project to hack in full OT support to Windows PowerPoint 2013, but ain't nobody got time for that.)
actualy im using 2021 of adobe illustrator and adobe indesigner and the 1.10.4 version of affiinity designer witch is the latest so office is the only old software that ive tested it on
For Adobe products, you might need to set some OpenType options.
I honestly don't know which options you need. A conformant implementation would enable the needed features by default.
Definitely try to enable Contextual Alternates. If that fails change the layout engine, try all of them. Let me know what works, I might tweak font slightly. Nothing I can do about PowerPoint 2013 though.
Regarding the other product, this might work. I don't have a license for either, and they don't make it for Linux anyway ;)
thanks for the tip it works on adobe indesigner by going to text paragraphe and switch from "adobe single line composer" to "adobe world ready single line composer" however i couldnt manage to make it work on illustrator or affinty publisher but its still a win i'll keep looking for solutions and posting updates thank you s
Only the final letter doesn't work by default? Hmm. That's a different problem than your earlier screenshots. I might be able to do something about that if almost everything works, while I can't do much about none of my joins working like in your example.
the final letter jointer issue apear only in adobe products like illustrator /indisgner / photoshop but on affinity publisher it affects all letters jointers
The only way to fix it is enabling the "World-Ready" composer. Adobe seems to think that GSUB type 2 is a particularly exotic lookup. I'll document that, otherwise this can be closed in v2.
Thank you for your contribution, added here:
