10 years ago the irremovable boards problem was already fixed @ 8c70404 (not live on 8chan yet I think) a completely separate options panel is a bit overkill imo, you can already change it with your browser's localStorage editor
how about a context menu for the favorite list, that lets you remove from there and move boards left/right

Basically, you manually type the board names into a text box. When you click apply, it wipes your favorite boards, and then favorites all the boards written in the list. This would solve the problem where dead boards cannot be unfavorited, and it would also allow you to rearrange the boards to your liking. You could even share board lists with other people. (for example, you could make a board list for halfchan migrators)
Bonus: add a button that reconstructs the list in alphabetical order.
Bonus 2: add subgroups. I.e. you could type "[v, vg, agdg], [a, co]" and you would have 2 sets of favorites on the top bar.
