No "command" frames? #50

Why is there is a lack of frames that sound like commands, i.e. Show me all the data, or Create a new file?

I am very much a novice in this space, so perhaps I am missing something.

Do you mean why are there no syntactic frames for imperative sentences with an implicit ‘you’ as the subject? Well, there aren’t any questions either. The frames came originally from Beth Levin’s book, and she focused on simple declaratives that highlighted similarities or differences in argument structure. We have done the same. They aren’t meant to be comprehensive. But you certainly should be able to derive imperatives and questions from what is already there. Does that help?

Ah yes, imperative sentences was the terminology I was looking for.

Copy on imperative (and Interrogative) sentences being out of the scope of this project. It's unfortunate, as these are the frames I most need. Thank you.
