This is perhaps the best place for initial variation, where thresholds for hunger, thirst, fear, shelter, wanderlust, etc. can be outlined. The two parts here to consider are immutable rules for growth, possible stages of life, etc. and the adjustable or trainable formulae for determining actions.

Randomness

Which behaviors should have randomness involved or spectral responses so that they are less predictable when decisions arise? Which (like, I think, hunger vs. fear) can be a red line without impacting the gameplay obviously?
