So here's an interesting idea: what if instead of a computer doing some calculations that could slow down the game, disguise them as mathematical challenges for the player to solve. The obvious problem with this though, is that sometimes, a player would be wrong. This concept of having people do things for machines is more or less inspired by reCaptcha. Probably wouldn't work, but just throwing the idea out there anyway.
This is awesome and I would like to see what ideas Emily has here. I could really see this working in cases where there are some significant challenges or very low likelihood of discovery for special talents or advanced tool recipes. Understanding and completing a mathematically driven task can open up new avenues for characters.
Open the way for new skills and special branches if users can solve (on behalf of their characters) challenges that follow an instructional path based on maths, economics, or social studies.
