Fixing Various Tests #82

This fixes various tests. Each commit has a different test that is fixed. The tests that now work are: basics.lgl and core.lgl. The others are still not working but various syntax errors were fixed.

Thank you, this is super helpful! A couple of requests before I pull:

It looks like there is currently a conflict that must be resolved; make sure to pull the current version of master before making a pull request. Also, per #80, I would like the generic tests to be at least syntactically updated before merging.
