double pop ups and double sound notifications #337

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Receive a trxt message
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I should just receive one popup with a one time notification tone. Instead I
get the first text like normal and then about 5 second later, I will get
another notification with the same text. Also the previous text pops up and I
have to swipe to see the new persons text.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
motorola Droid RAZR, OS 2.3.6

Please provide any additional information below.

does this happen with every single message? the duplicate that comes in, is
that one to the right of the first (you have to swipe over to see it)?

Yes, happens with every message and yes within 5 seconds or so I will get
another pop up that I have to swipe to the right to see it.

Do you have any 3rd party SMS apps installed?

Let me get this straight:
-popup #1 shows, notification sounds, screen turns on. there are no other messages except popup #1
-5 seconds later, notification sounds, the little "dot" down the bottom signifies there is another message that has arrived
-swiping right to see the 2nd message shows its exactly the same as the first

correct?

Ok can you uninstall SMS Popup and install the attached debug version (it won't
install over the existing version). Then send yourself a message, make sure the
double messages show. And then quickly grab your system logs and email them to
me - smspopup@everythingandroid.net

If you don't know how to grab logs, a 3rd party app like this one will do it
for you:

I'm getting similar.
What happens is I get a popup of the message with two/three dots below
indicating multiple messages. When I swipe to the others it shows the second as
a duplicate of the first. Then if there are three dots shows unknown with blank
message. Swipe back then removes a dot but shows the last but one message then
another swipe shows the original which initiated the popup. Hope this is useful.
Using Galaxy S2. Will test linked update too.

Almost the same here except: not every time a message is received...but most.

Ok. I'm having the double pop up issues & have noticed that they're exactly the
same message with the exception of a 5 hr. time difference with the time stamp.
I've also had single pop ups with the time stamp issues. Any ideas ?

I have similar issues on Sony Xperia L. The application doesn't work well, once
in a while it shows old, deleted or empty messages (or something like that). It
looks like it gets confused if the user cannot interact with the popups at the
moment they appear. Then something brings them to background for whatever
reason, leaving them on a pending state which won't get updated if the messages
are read or deleted from outside SMS Popup.
