Moodle user sign up flow

• User clicks Quodl link from within Moodle
• If Moodle user exists, go straight through to module
• If user doesn't exist, go to signup screen (Modified for Moodle users, so no password)
• If Moodle user email already exists, ask user if they want to merge accounts. If so, verify password, then merge so user can only login via Moodle from now on

Hi @Danwhy, sorry for taking ages to get back to you, but yes, this makes sense. Presumably for the signup screen, students will only be asked for a nickname. It would be ideal to pass their email address from moodle using LTI (as it saves effort for the user, and avoids a point where students have typos in their email addresses), but if they have to enter it manually, then it's not the end of the world.

While doing this, it might be good to bear in mind that we might in the future want to allow students to create an account by clicking through from moodle, but then have an option of setting a password so they can log into the account directly (in case moodle goes down, or just if they want to go straight to Quodl). That's probably not for implementing at this stage, but may influence decisions about how to implement the current work. (Though of course this may be coming too late, given you seem to have made good progress in implementing this, in which case no problem.)
