After looking into a few different node based forum systems, NodeBB seems to be the most suitable choice. It is easy to initially set up and allows for complete customisation through the use of plugins. Existing ones that we can use if suitable, and we can also write our own.

Estimates of broken down tasks:

• Initial setup of NodeBB - 1 day
• Use Quodl logins as forum logins (potential existing plugin to help) - 2 days
• Creating Modules as Categories accessible only to module members - 2 days
• Automatically giving lecturers privileges on modules they own - 2 days
• Auto generating posts from Quodl (Stats from last week etc. This plugin will allow us to programmatically add posts to the forum) - 1.5 days
• Making posts disappear after a certain time - 2 days

Total time: 10.5 days

NodeBB comes with some default styling out of the box that would probably suffice for our POC purposes, however we can customise this either now or at a later date by using themes, which we can again, create ourselves or use existing ones.

@stianr These estimates are in single developer days, unlike our usual paired estimates.

I would advise that we add 1 day of refactoring and 1 day of bug fixing to the above as well.
