Deletes are a weekly process run by Steve. Suppressed records should not show in EDS (need to test this).

Schedule daily updates with Sierra Scheduler

From EDS site Adding New Records or Modifying Records When files are uploaded to the UPDATE folder, the system will perform an incremental update affecting only the records you submit. Any new records the system finds will be appended to the most recent build. If two records share a unique identifier then the new record will REPLACE the old record.

Procedure for updating your record set:

Log into the FTP server with your credentials. You will now be in your home directory on the FTP server. You should see two folders FULL and UPDATE. FTP the MARC files which contain the new records or updated records into the folder labeled UPDATE. After all files have completed uploading, log out of the FTP server.

From @stbr2668 If this works, we may need to do a bigger update to catch the past week or so since the full load went through, or send a new full load when we are happy with the results. The daily that Jeremy set up only captures the past 24 hours of changes/suppressions/new records.

If we do commit to EBSCO MARC, I’m guessing we’ll need to switch the daily and quarterly saved searches to reflect CAT LEVEL=(EBSCO) instead of CAT LEVEL=(SERSOL), unless EDS acts differently…something for me to test when we make the transition. This transition may also require a new full load.

FTP folder site is messy, Steve will reach out to ask if EBSCO can clean.

stbr2668 commented 2 years ago

Messy is the way the FTP folder is supposed to look according to Ciro. Nothing we can do about it.

To Nicole: See Sierra catalog email for more info on documentation.

Copied over the Summon documentation, made into EBSCO, putting in current notes as I find them: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bSTaD2WNbHbSVd98YIsnqLoScZ9pDIljdGP6c7571Ss/edit#
