This is an enhancement request from this issue After conferring with @sahalali, I understand that this should be pretty straightforward to do in the FE so I don't think an estimate is needed.
Enhancement when a user edits a saved event and switches a date type from single date to multiple dates/date range or vice versa (in any direction), the start date (and end date where appropriate) should persist (like it does before saving a new event).
