WP 3.7 - Automatic Updates #88

WP 3.7 has a new feature that automatically updates itself to the latest point release version.

It also includes a hidden feature to auto-update plugins and themes: http://make.wordpress.org/core/2013/09/24/automatic-core-updates/ (View the "Are there any more hidden features?" section.)

What I'm wondering is what we should do with regards to CBOX?

We should probably disable plugin and theme updates, but I haven't looked too much into how the filters work yet and if it's possible to blacklist certain plugins and themes from updates.

My gut feeling is that we do nothing for now. I'm not confident enough yet in our release procedures to go pushing out automatic updates. As it stands, users update when they see that an update is available, and then if something goes wrong, they're at least able to say "it worked before the update to version X". If we do it silently, we'll lose that.

What do you think?

I agree.
