Working on it ;)
It should work on current version stable & beta of Firefox, not in nightly.
I'm planning a new release in near future solving that

still doesn't work on 19.0a1 2012-10-09. Request permission works fine, but
Show notification does nothing.

Just tried it and it worked on 19.0a1 linux-x86_64
What version do you use ? If you use linux binary available at ftp.mozilla.org,
notifications are shown through libnotify.
Do you have any error on console ?
