Decide if metadata should be included in pptx downloads #156

Some professors will not want metadata included in their slide decks and will complain if they have to remove the metadata pages before using their decks. Other professors will want their metadata included and complain if it is left off. Offering a choice on download (e.g. radio buttons for "include metadata pages" and "images only") is technically possible but out of scope for the current SOW.

Update from Tufts (e-mail 9/19)

We are looking at the download powerpoint function and here’s what we are thinking:

  • Use the basic jpeg for download to powerpoint and pdf
  • We’d like to keep the first slide as the collection description and powerpoint and pdf, but we don’t like the way the metadata for individual images is presented. Here are a couple of ideas:
    • Provide a url link from the image to the image in TDIL so that faculty and students could link to the metadata to view it.
    • Is it possible to display images only in powerpoint, but display image and metadata in pdf? Faculty could then copy and paste metadata from the pdf to the notes in the powerpoint slide.
    • Have images listed first in the powerpoint stack and have the metadata follow the set of images. Is it possible to link to the metadata slide from the image. So, for example you would have a set of 35 images and 35 metadata slides (70 slides total) and image 1 would link to metadata slide 36. That way the images would display together but would allow linking to the metadata if, for example, a student was using the stack for study purposes. Faculty could also just delete the set of metadata slides if they didn’t want to use them.

Please let us know what’s possible from your point of view.

I've told them we can do the second bullet and added #169

Upon further reflection, bullet 2 is out of scope and we need to communicate this.

As of 9/24 we agreed to leave the metadata slides in the powerpoint and pdf export. We will review options for a better UI for export in a future SOW.
