I think it would be just dandy if we could get a domain for attendance, instead of requiring students to go to the appspot subdomain. In particular, I think it would be extra awesome if we could get something setup up with an ISU subdomain or at least a redirect from a page on the music.iastate.edu site. I'm also game for buying a cheap domain. mbattend.com, for instance, is untaken and probably only costs $11.

The one benefit of appspot is free https support.

Also, I don't see a huge benefit of a domain over the appspot sub domain since it will just be linked from the marching band site. Except maybe branding down the road if there are multiple bands, e.g. iastate.mbattend.com and duke.mbattend.com

Overall I think an iowa state sub domain would be ideal.

If we do buy mbattend.com, will the subdomain just be a redirect? Or I suppose GAE actually would support more than that. Which would be nice. Either way, we'll always have that option (until somebody snags our domain name).

I think the subdomain would be the actual site, just so something with the url has to do with iowa state.

Current best idea is attendi.ng. My main concern is that it's hard to tell people verbally where to go, but I think it's awesome other than that.

I think most people will be accessing this form the marching band official isu site, at least initially, so that's okay.
