[DEFAULT] put a better code solution in place for highlighted and vertbatim #13

currently code highlighting is not working, we need to get it working again and improve it. Ideally not using minted or pygments, try a solution using listings.

We want line numbers and a smaller font on any highlighted or verbatim code
