Get a "Loading" throbber which never goes away, and cannot configure anything in this settings pane.

Also, there are no instructions on the code.google.com/p/error-prone page that actually says how to install this bare jar - putting the jar in that directory was done based on a search on how to install plugins manually.

Jar file is error-prone-idea-plugin-1.0beta.jar.

I just submitted an updated build of the plugin to the JetBrains plugin repository. That should fix the installation issue: you'll just use the Plugins dialogs within the IDE to find and install the error-prone plugin. Leaving this open until they approve the new plugin so we can verify it's working for you.

I updated the install instructions, and verified the current plugin is working for me: http://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/7349?pr=

The plugin installs and no longer hangs the preference screen. Now to figure out how to use a non-Apple JDK =)
