Cutiepi turned off, when plug in a power-supply with less then 2A #9

If the power-supply has not enough power, the cutiepi turns off immediately. Looks like it doesnt use both, the accu and the power-supply the same time.

Using a 5V, 2.1A power supply to keep the CutiePi going when a 3A charger is not available causes the unit to make a clicking/popping noise, then get stuck in a rebooting loop. Preferred behaviour would be that it just limps along drawing power from the battery if the external PSU is not enough, like most laptops do. Is this a software issue or baked into the hardware? I fear the latter.
