changes from 'storage' branch but no project restructure #82

The idea here is to grab the changes from storage but without also restructuring GYP and the project setup since we're handling that separately in #28.

Once this passes Travis, I'll merge to master since gl-native is already pinned to the changes in storage as of https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-gl-native/commit/b56b618abf0b15025b61ab96dcc873cf7af82450.

Ugh, forgot this was gl-cocoa and we don't have Travis running right now currently (will also be fixed with #28). Merging now since this only affects iOS and works for me.
