[ ] Improvements when placing "(", "[", "{":
- Current behavior: When highlighting a part of the code and pressing "(", the highlighted part will be removed and "()" is placed.
- Proposed behavior: When highlighting a part of the code and pressing "(", the highlighted part will be surrounded by "(" and ")" and the highlighted part is still highlighted.
[ ] When text is highlighted, it could be emphasized on other places in the document. The following screenshot is from Visual Studio Code:

The brackets feature would be a nice improvement.

Why do you think the highlighting is helpful with LaTeX? I can see it with variables in programming languages.

That's a good question. I agree that this is more useful for languages where you use variables. In text editors, it can still be useful to see repetitions. But I don't have a strong opinion on this one.
