Characters distorted during vertical flip #20

Sometimes when I try to flip things vertically in paste mode, characters get mangled.

Here is an example of the original image I copied:

And here's what it looked like when I hit "C" (copy), then "S" (to stamp the same version) then "Y" (to flip it vertically):

I did with your recent 3.2.1 release on my Mac.

It gets a little stranger. If I next copy the version I stamped, then try to flip it, it works! No garbled characters.

But copying and flipping the original always results in garbled characters.
