Do you get new mail notifications when you're on this state ? Could you check
google
talk - can you receive/send messages ?
C2P is using the same infrastructure as mail/calendar/talk, need to check if
it's a
connectivity problem or it's specific to c2p or cloud to device.

Yes I get new gmail notifications with no problems. But I have turn off the
email
notifications on my other email (yahoo, etc). I just turned on the email
notifications on the email app too and its still not coming through.

To confirm: you are using the 'Gmail' application, and when a new message is
received
you see a notification and the message on the phone, without hitting 'refresh'.
Can you also login to Talk, and make sure you can receive chat messages when
the
phone is in the state you described ( i.e. c2p not working, requiring
disconnect/reconnect ) ?
C2P is using the same connection with mail/contact/talk/calendar sync.
Are you on Wifi or 3g/edge ?

To confirm:
1. I am using 3g
2. When I get an email into my gmail account, I get a notification right away
without
having to refresh.
3. Using google talk, I get a notification right away without hitting refresh.
The problem I have with p2c is that when I hit the "send to phone" icon and it
says
"link sent to phone", I do not get a notification nor do my phone automatically
open
the webpage on my N1. I had the feature set to open automatically. BUT once i
turn on
airplane mode, which means I disconnect my 3g, then turn it back on, I would
get the
notification and my phone would open the webpage!

Thanks for the report, I'm trying to find some logs - could you try again and
update the bug with the time when you tried ( without disconnecting/connecting)
? Also send a chat message (Google Talk) right after you do the c2p and check
if it gets trough.

I have noticed similar behavior in the emulator. For about 5 mins after boot,
C2DM works fine. However after that it gets very patchy and unreliable,
airplane mode sometimes works, other times the emulator has to be restarted.

agreed with #6 after a while I didn't get any notification even in the browser
it say 'sent'. I'm on wifi and I can receive email/browse but after I disable
my wifi and re-enable it then I get the notification.

Just downloaded and installed on desktop and Nexus One. I also have to disable,
then re-enable, 3g to get the C2P info sent. I get yahoo & gmail notifications
with no problems. Is there a workaround or fix (update) for this issue?

Changed the priority - I can't reproduce it.
Is this for every message or only some ? Could you provide time details ( when
did you send to phone, when did you reset connection - need to match it with
logs ).
Could someone update the bug with the source of the firmware ? I'm running an
'official' build, this doesn't seem to happen.

Another thing that would help debugging: wait > 30 minutes before
disconnect/connect.
If emulator/dev phone - could you send 'adb logcat' output ?

Okay I had to delete my last comment cause it seems like the problem is fixed
(in a way). I clicked sent to phone and 3 whole minutes later, my phone
automatically launched my browser and opened the link.
I am using an N1 on 2.2 with the latest apk installed and the latest chrome
extension installed. I am also using Dolphin HD as my default browser. So now
the only problem I have is the lag of receiving the link. Thanks.

Okay I am back with the same problem. I thought it was fixed, just a timing
lag, but it's not. It's been more than 30 minutes since I clicked on sent to
phone and have yet to get the notification.

#11. always.. I can say 5 out of 10 tries failed. It is like 50/50 chance you
will receive the notification.
#12. Any filter should I use since my log is large then I can send it to you

Costin, I get the same pb with Froyo FRF83 ported on HTC Desire. No way to
receive a notification unless I cut and restart data. Here is the log when I
turn the data on. I sent a link from my pc browser just after having activated
data and the log didn't change (the two "events" you can see in my log where
triggered before data reset).

Anyone has the problem with the 'official' Froyo OTA ?
How was the the port done - AFAIK the open source version doesn't include
market and google services, which is where c2dm is implemented.
Please include timestamps - for ex. "at 11:00 AM PST I CTP-ed a page, waited
until 11:40, than disconnect/connect." I assume the user id on the phone is the
same with the one used to report the bug.

They got all google apps/services build in. I'm not sure which version but the
fact is c2p sometimes work and sometimes not if no google services shouldn't it
not working at all.

- Wifi is set off on phone --> phone receive C2P as soon as data cnx is
established
- 1 or 2 links sent from PC (nothing happens on the phone)
- Wifi is set on on phone --> phone receive C2P as soon as wifi cnx is

Sumsaninc: I cannot believe it either - not able to repro on my phone or with
automated tests, but I see in the logs that few accounts have this problem. I'm
adding more debug info, next server push will hopefully help.
Since I have access to chrometophone account and registration info, would it be
ok if I send you 5-6 'www.google.com' pages ? Let me know if I have your
permission, and if so please update the bug when you start seeing them ( I

instantly and then i have to reset the connection (sometimes sign in to talk

the link straight away.
i am able to receive new email from the gmail app

Not sure if I'm having the same issue, but it usually takes several minutes for
me to receive links. I'm running the official OTA Froyo build FRF91. It occurs
with Wifi, 3G, and edge. Sometimes (rarely) the link arrives right away, but
usually it takes several minutes.
Gmail notification isn't instantaneous, but it is considerably faster.

SOLVED? - My issue with slow link arrival appears to be fixed. I did a factory
reset a couple of days ago to see if it would fix a 3G issue I was having. Now
links and phone numbers are arriving in 10-15 seconds.
Just to clarify the OS history of my N1, it shipped with 2.1 and received all
of the updates OTA until froyo was leaked. I manually updated to FRF50 and also
to FRF72. Then OTA update to FRF91. I don't know if the factory reset cleared
out some remnants of the manual updates, but I thought I'd share this in case
it's helpful to someone.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm still having the same problem, currently on
FRF91 compiled for HTC Desire. Even after full wipes, no change. COuld it come
from the carrier, Orange (France) in my case?
Original comment by franck.t...@gmail.com

franck.t... Can you test it over wifi? That would help to determine if it's
the carrier.
My problem occurred over 2G, 3G, and wifi.

The 'slow second link' problem is in process of getting fixed/deployed.
If you experience delays > 10 minutes and/or have to reconnect - please update
the bug. Please first check if Talk is working, to rule out connectivity issues
(if the network is bad - it's normal for message to be delayed until the net
recovers ).

I have the same problem but it is not specifically the second CTP that doesn't
arrive, it can also be the 3rd, 4th, etc. I have the problem on both 3g and
wifi. I was able to receive the message by logging in to google talk, which
upon login triggered the CTP's. I have gtalk configured to login automatically,
but it seems that this doesn't work correctly. I understand that if the phone
is on standby, the data connection is eventually terminated (after 15 mins).
The strange thing is that I start missing the CTP's/gtalk messages/gmail
messages as soon as I lock my phone.
I have a HTC Desire with the official 2.2 update installed.

I think guys I fixed the problem. When on wifi the phone is going to asleep and
by default it fails to switch to 3g unless you disconnect/reconnect for chrome
to phone.
So you can either:
1. Let the phone stay in 3g mode (don't use wifi).
or
2. Tell the phone to don't sleep in wifi mode (dunno if this uses more battery
or not...) To change this go to Settings->WiFi settings->Tap the menu
bar->Advanced->WiFi sleep policy->Never.
Your phone will never get off of wifi unless you tell it to now. By default it
tries to switch from wifi to 3g and fails with chrome to phone.
BTW after registering by account I had to wait ~2-3 minutes before chrome to
phone worked instantly. Also make sure you have the latest chrome extension
(v2.0) and app on your phone from the marketplace.
Original comment by will...@gmail.com

Correction: Your phone will never get off of wifi as long as your associated
wifi profiles (SSIDs) on your phone are available. When they aren't available
it will switch to 3g. It just won't switch due to sleeping/non-activity now.

Same issue here still with a T-Mobile G2 on HSPA+. Just sent a test e-mail to
my Gmail account. Got that just fine w/in a minute. IMMEDIATELY used chrome to
phone w/ the same account after I got the gmail alert, did not go through. And
it generally takes 5-10 minutes to get through.
If it means anything: When I first installed the extension and app, I tried
this several times with various links. Nothing happened right away, then
suddenly my phone SPAZZED OUT, which seemed to indicate that it pushed them
finally, but all at once.

On my HTC Desire HD, original rom, not rooted, it works the first time and
then, next time, nothing. When it works it taks about 2-3sec to open, to make
it work again i have to do the same as everyone else. Turn the network off and
on again, then it works one time, and i have to do it all over again. What info
do you need/want? In the phones log only the ones poping up in the browser
shows, although i've tryed to send many more. This was now, 21.12.10 CET
