Similar to how the opening default view of the map is configurable, make the opening default view of the timeline configurable. For example, the default map view in SIMILE Exhibit as it "ships" is somewhere in Nevada, and we changed the default opening view for the RSC libraries/archives map to be somewhere in Manitoba.
Right now the timeline default view is the current date, i.e., today's date. But most people think of time and events going forward, so it would be useful to have the default view be the first event, visible on the extreme left of the timeline, or possibly centered on the timeline. Or maybe have the default view be the middle event in the continuum of events, centered on the timeline.
